The International Solidarity Foundation for Human Rights has affirmed that the Zionist forces have been systematically targeting educational institutions in Palestinian lands for destruction. The forces have intentionally bombed a number of schools, and arrested thousands of university and secondary school students and their teachers.
A report issued by the International Solidarity Foundation, last Sunday, carried a survey of Zionist desecration against the educational sector on Palestinian soil in the first half of 2010, which went as far as tampering with school curricula in a pretext to putting an end to anti-Semitic sentiments. Meanwhile, the Zionist curricula are maintaining their overt hatred towards Arab and Muslims, and continue to undermine the history of the Palestinian people.
Despite being a signatory to international conventions, the Zionist authorities' practices in Palestinian land are considered outright violations of the very same conventions they claim to be party to, as they aspire to have total control over land, bodies and minds of the Palestinian people.
The report said that the Zionist forces continue to bar Gaza students from pursuing their studies in their respective universities and educational institutions. As a result of the siege, hundreds of university students have been prevented from attending their various Faculties.
It also affirmed that the racist wall has played a vital role in barring students from reaching their schools and universities in the West Bank, this is over and above the arrests and mistreatments at the hands of Zionist forces located at roadblocks.
It stated that tens of educational establishments were destroyed in the recent war on Gaza.
Zionist planes bombed 67 schools, besides destroying a large portion of the Islamic University.
On January 20th, 2010, Zionist settlers vandalized a school in Orita village in Nablus. Three days later Zionist authorities issued a warning to destroy Kranfanat School, near Ariha, on the pretext that it was constructed without licence.
On February 11th, 2010, settlers attacked Al-Haj Ma'azur Al-Masri School for girls in Nablus, and destroyed its doors and windows, for the second time. Four days later, the Zionist forces barred students from reaching their schools in Kalkiliya.
On March 13th, 2010, the forces barred teachers and students of Sibga School located behind the racist wall from reaching the school. The students had to undergo rigorous checking and screenings.
On March 13th, 2010, the Zionist forces attacked Al-Aqsa Secondary School and Sheria School in the vicinity of the Mosque, and issued a decision to close both.
On March 27th, 2010, the forces stopped hundreds of students and pupils from attending their classes around Al-Aqsa, stating that only people over the age of 50 are allowed in Al-Aqsa's vicinity.
On April 4th, 2010, Taira School in Ramallah was turned into a virtual prison, after being cordoned off by Zionist forces with the racist wall.
The International Solidarity Foundation report also stressed that with these destructive practices the Zionist authorities aim at bringing down the Palestinian educational system, and raise an illiterate new generation so that they can easily occupy the land. It urged the international community to come to the rescue of the Palestinian people and their educational sector.
